HSE Seminar in Alexandria


Successful outcomes for Capital drilling HSE coordinators that attended the 5 day HSE Seminar in Alexandria, Egypt November 2010. The seminar was designed to reflect on Capital drilling HSE performance in 2010 and participate in developing their Strategic Plan for 2011.

As part of the professional development of the team they were successful in gaining formal recognition for

  • RIIRIS301A – Apply Risk Management Processes (S1) and
  • TAADEL301C - Provide training through instruction and demonstration of work skills.


Providing quality skills training to the national workforce and the ability to formally recognise their skills is a key strategy for Capital drilling HSE team in 2011. The team were also trained on the hosted online Quality management system provided by Australasian Drilling Institute/Six which is currently being rolled out through Capital drilling global operations.

Attendees; Ili Cava Australasian Drilling Institute (ADI), Nico Tzamburakis (Capital Tanzania), Mohammad Shawqy (Capital Egypt), Sydney Chikwamo (Capital Zambia), Roberto Lara (Capital Chile) and Wayne Healy Capital Support Services (CSS).


TAA Qualifications through ADI


Capital Support Services General manager, Wayne Healy successfully completed his Certificate IV in TAA qualification through Australasian Drilling Institute (ADI) in October 2010. ADI managing Director was in Alexandria to present Wayne Healy his certificate.
This qualification reflects Wayne’s role in delivering training and assessment services in the vocational education and training (VET) sector.
Achievement of this qualification by endorsed ADI trainers and assessors is a requirement of the Australian Quality Training Framework Essential Standards for Registration.

This qualification, is an essential requirements for those engaged in the delivery of training and assessment of competence in a workplace context on behalf of Australasian Drilling Institute.

Recognition of Current Competency (RCC)


Australasian Drilling Institute Managing Director conducting a competency interview with Roberto Lara, Health Safety Environment (HSE) coordinator for Capital drilling Chile in Alexandria, Egypt November 2010. Roberto was undergoing his Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) interview for RIIRIS301A – Apply Risk Management Processes and TAADEL301C - Provide training through instruction and demonstration of work skills. Ili required the assistance of Josefa Lobo from Mozambique to interpret which lead to the successful completion of the RPL for Roberto.

ADI delivers BOP training in PNG


Roach mining recently requested ADI to provide BOP (blow out prevention) training for their crews in Ok Tedi mine in PNG. Darrin Wallis contract on shore oil and gas specialist trainer with ADI delivered the training to huge success on site in Ok Tedi mine.

Between the 4th and 7th June 2010 Boart Longyear Indochina convened a Certificate IV Workplace Trainer
and Assessor short course for a diverse group of EHST, Drill Supervisor and Rig Fitter employees.

The training course was conducted by Mr. Larry Forsyth from Australasian Drilling Institute (ADI).
